May
May started with VE Day and we have found learning about VE Day and the history of it very interesting. We all dressed in red, white and blue for the occasion and to pay our respects we laid a wreath on behalf of school to remember all those who sadly lost their lives. We also learn the song 'Hang out the washing on the Siegfried Line' and performed it for residents of the village. In science we have been learning all about teeth and had great fun making teeth from salt dough. Our topic in History this term has been 'The Stone Age'. We have loved learning about the Stone Age from reading the 'Stone Age Boy' in English to doing our own Stone Age painting, creating clay pinch pots in a workshop by Animated Objects, to having a fantastic Stone Age Workshop with Katherine.
April
April has been a short month at school with the Easter holidays being in the middle of it, however we have still packed in lots in a short space of time. We have been extremely fortunate to have a Hydrogen Workshop in school of which we learnt all about the different types of fuels and energy, but the most exciting part was when we undertook experiments seeing how hydrogen fuel is made and also how it is transported around. In science we have started our new topic and we have been investigating different types of rocks. We went out into the school grounds to see what types of rocks we have here in North Frodingham. This half term we are also lucky enough to have golf on a Tuesday with Ivan. We have been applying the new skills we have learnt to help us improve our golf.
March
We have packed lots of exciting things into the month of March! We started with World Book Day, having a live lesson with an author and designing own own characters which was great fun. In Geography, we have been learning all about volcanoes this half term and in one of our lessons we made our own volcanoes which was great fun. Some of us even had our parents in school to help us and they enjoyed it just as much as us (if not more)! We continued through the month with a Railway Safety Talk which we found interesting, outdoor learning and to celebrate science week we had a hydrogen car workshop! We are definitely ready for our Easter Holiday break now after all our hard work! We hope you all have a lovely Easter and we can't wait to see what the summer term brings!
February
Class 2 had an amazing day at the York Railway Museum!
The children had so much fun exploring and discovering all the exciting stories behind the railway and its fascinating history. What a wonderful adventure we all had!
We're excited to share that we celebrated becoming 100 days smarter this February!
In our art class, we’ve been having a great time experimenting with wax resist techniques, inspired by the amazing artist Henry Moore!
January
Happy New Year, everyone!
We're excited to kick off our new topics this month!
In science, we're diving into the fascinating world of rocks, and the children have had a blast exploring and learning all about them.
We then had so much fun learning about how fossils are formed! We even made our model using bread and toy dinosaurs. It was a great way to explore this fascinating topic!
We also had a great time discussing road safety. Even though it was a bit chilly, the children did an amazing job with their pedestrian training and can now cross the road safely. Great teamwork, everyone!
In our outdoor learning session this month, the children had an amazing time diving into the wonderful world of birds and birdwatching! We had so much fun discovering different species and watching them in their natural habitats. Plus, we got creative and made our own birds using sticks!
December
We’ve been wrapping up our exciting Egyptian topic by making some fun Egyptian collars!
To get into the Christmas spirit, we also created some adorable hat baubles for our loved ones.
As a special treat, some of the children who have been learning guitar shared a fantastic performance with us! It’s been such a joyful time!
November
In Geography, we had a great time learning all about rivers! We even got to create our own river models and label them with all their cool features.
We also enjoyed an amazing afternoon of outdoor learning, exploring nature. It was so much fun, and we used our discoveries to create some beautiful art inspired by the great outdoors!
October
In October, we had an amazing time learning about the Egyptians!
In Art, we got creative and made our own papyrus paper, which was so much fun.
We also had a special history day with Catherine, where she shared many fascinating stories about ancient Egyptian life and death. It was a great opportunity to dive deeper into their world!
September
Welcome back!
September was an exciting month for us. In our science lessons, we had a blast exploring light and shadows.
Plus, we celebrated with a fun wolf-themed party to tie in with our English topic, "Wolves in the Walls." a great time was had by all!
