November 2025

In November as part of outdoor learning for our ECO award, we have been busy planting trees with Mrs Butterworth. We are looking forward to watching how they change and grow over winter, spring and summer.  For Children in Need, we all came to school in comfy clothes to raise money and we took part in various house challenges from building the strongest bridge, mindfulness colouring, physical challenges to even seeing how many times we could fit our initials in Pudsey Bear. It was great fun! In the middle of the month, we woke up to snow so at break time, we all went outside, made snowmen and enjoyed playing with our friends (even if our hands and feet did get a bit cold!) Our Mini Police training reached its penultimate month and over our November sessions we looked at anti-social behaviour. We wore 'drunk goggles'  and were tasked with completing challenges to see how alcohol affects our body (Miss Dixon and Mrs Sheldon were roped into have a go too!) They also showed us how they use handcuffs and protect themselves with shields. We ended November with a trip to The Deep in Hull as part of our topic of Oceans in Geography. We all really enjoyed looking at and learning about all the different creatures. December is bound to be another busy month in the run up to Christmas and we are looking forward to everything we have planned!

October 2025

October has been another busy month for Class 3! We have continued with our Mini Police Training and went into the village to look at how safe the houses are and what we could do to improve their safety.  In RE we acted out the story of Rama and Sita and in science we had great fun exploring and making our own periscopes. We also had an afternoon of First Aid Training were we learnt how to apply different bandages and slings to different wounds and injuries, how to administer an epi pen, how to use a defibrillator and do CPR and finally what to do if someone is chocking. It was very interesting and we all learnt a lot of useful life skills. We would like to say a huge thank you to the PTFA for purchasing YOTO’s for each class and new books for our class reading spines. A YOTO is an audio player for children, that introduces them to a world of stories, music, learning and adventure. We have been enjoying listening to stories and this is a fun way of enhancing our reading area.

September 2025

What an amazing return into school the children have had this month. They have got straight back into their learning and enjoyed getting used to their new class mates once again.

This month, the children have been exploring light and shadows in science lessons. In art, they have discovered a range of new artists and recreated some famous paintings.

They have been improving their  balancing and coordination in gymnastics - with some amazing results all around.

Finally, the children also qualified as play leaders and have begun on their Mini Police training as well!

July

As we prepare to say goodbye to our amazing Year 6's, we have kept busy during July. We started off with a visit, with Beeford children, to Driffield Secondary school, where we enjoyed (and took part) in their music concert.

We enjoyed our annual Frod's got talent show; where our Y6 children were hosts, enjoying that extra responsibility within school. Mrs Walters (or should that be Mademoiselle Walters) hosted a French Breakfast for us on the school field which was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.

Then to celebrate finishing the final lessons of this years curriculum in Class 3, we enjoyed a water fight with the Class 2 children. A lot of fun was had by all (even the teachers ended up rather soaked this year!)

It has been an wondefully exciting year this year with our mixed Year 5/6 children and we wish our Year 6's the best of luck in their new adventures.

best wishes from Mrs Robinson and the Class 3 team.

June

This month, we joined forces with Class 2 and did some shared maths challenges, enjoyed the warmer weather and spent time practicing our teamworking skills. Let's not forget an amazing day for Sports day too.

With Mrs Robinson, children have completed some amazing writing this month exploring story telling strategies in different settings and worlds.

We also celebrated our Arts Byte winners - George, Henry and Aaron - big well done for your amazing Art work.

May

May is always a busy month especially for Year 6 with SATs but they all did amazingly well. After SATs both Year 5 & 6 have been on a school trip to Driffield Showground for the Food and Farming Day. We enjoyed learning about all the different animals and looking at all the different machinery and thankfully it was much drier than last year!

We have also had a workshop from Animated Objects and our first challenge was to build a tower from only paper. We made towers taller than us, the teachers and almost the height of the classroom! After that, we worked as a class to build a paper bridge that a car can travel on from one side of the classroom to the other. It was great fun!

April

Amongst all the festivities in the build up to Easter, with a pinch of SATs revision. Class 3 had many memorable moments in April.

We enjoyed a warmer outdoor learning with Mrs Butterworth planting seeds for the Summer to come.

We also had our safety talk on our local railways and finally enjoyed getting back outside for our PE sessions.

March

In March we were able to complete our healthy foods unit with some delicious home cooked Spaghetti Bolognese using homegrown ingredients.

Later, we then enjoyed our first Kurling lesson with Mrs Wilson before science week hit and we enjoyed building our own hydrogen cars and completing a greenhouse experiment.

February

It wouldn't be February in Class 3 without our residential trip!

This month we were busy at Robinwood.

We held a babyshower for Mrs Pickering as part of our work in PSHE.

BigFoot came in to work with us and help us to learn more about our behaviour online.

January

January was a month of all things Science!

We had our outdoor learning session with Mrs Butterworth looking at a range of materials and habitats.

We then went on to explore the history of classification with Miss Dixon and finally we created our own invertebrates using play dough.

December

December - a month of crafting, performing and festivities! Our favourites.

We played our party games in class this year and we were very competitive.

In RE we revised the meaning of Christmas and enjoyed revisiting our early years knowledge of Christingles.

And finally, as part of DT and art we made many of our own creations to decorate our homes.

November

As we build up to Christmas, we are getting busier and busier in Class 3.

We have been learning all about the Circulatory system in Science.

In English, we became newsreporters ready to write our own newspaper article.

Finally, we enjoyed learning about retrofurturistic art styles in Art producing some interesting pieces of work.

October

October has been full of adventures that have kept us very busy in the lead up to half term.

We have used our play leaders session with Mr Robinson to become play leader specialists for the rest of the school.

We completed our life saving first aid training which allowed us to practice our bandaging and wound wrapping skills.

Of course our amazing trip to Eden Camp to delve deep into the history of World War II and what a fantastic trip this was!

September

We had an amazing but extremely busy first month of the school year in Class 3 - where we were thrown straight in to some excellent lessons for our 'Out of this World' topic.

We have been using performance to help us remember key religious practices for prayer in RE,

We also used performance to act out key emotive elements of our World War II book in English using freeze framing.

Miss Dixon was really impressed with the children's work on the Solar System in science and finally we enjoyed a fantastic outdoor session with Mrs Butterworth.
